Deanna Durbin: I'll be Yours    (DVD)

Based on a play by Hungarian Ferenc Molnar and with a screenplay by the legendary writer/director Preston Sturges, Deanna appears as a small town girl Louise Ginglebusher who is working as an usherette in a New York theatre. She makes friends with the waiter (William Bendix) at her local diner who in turn introduces her to a young lawyer, George Prescott (Tom Drake). At a swank party where she is to sing, she attracts the attention of a wealthy tycoon (Adolph Menjou). To avoid his advances she makes up a white lie claiming shes married to Prescott. This leads to many amusing complications before true love surfaces to save the day.

The musical program finds Deanne in fine voice with Its Dreamtime, the Cobbleskil School Song, Sari Waltz, Loves Own Sweet Song and the Augustin Lara/Dorothy Dodd classic Granada.
