Desperate to save Pikachu, Ash rushes to a nearby laboratory run by Professor Birch. No sooner has the treatment begun than the fever-stricken Pikachu goes running off into the nearby woods. As Ash and the professor give chase, a hasty young trainer, May, arrives at the professors laboratory hoping to begin her journey as a Pokmon trainer.

A RUIN WITH A VIEW

Ash is alarmed at how oblivious May is to the arts of a Pokmon trainer. Mays true motive for becoming a Pokmon trainer had been not to learn more of Pokmon, but to see the world. When Ash and May reach the local Pokmon Centre, May is more excited by the cafeteria than the Pokmon information available. When a group of thugs cuts the power to the Pokmon centre, Ash and May must trace the crime back to a chamber that links their world to a world of ancient Pokmon.

THERES NO PLACE LIKE HOENN

Ash reaches his first gym in the HOENN Region and begins a simple one-on-one match with the gym leader, Mays father Norman and his Vigoroth. The battle is hardly underway, however, when Team Rocket swoops in, kidnapping Mays Torchic. Ash, May, and her younger brother, Max manage to track down Team Rocket and rescue the missing Pokmon. As Ash and May set out for the next gym, it is decided that young Max will go along and support them with his wide knowledge of Pokmon.

YOU CAN NEVER TAILLOW

As Ash and his new travelling companions pass through a forest, Team Rocket conspires to capture Pikachu by setting a local flock of Taillow against Ash. With only Pikachu, Ash has a difficult time against these extremely determined opponents, but Brock shows up unexpectedly to turn the tide of battle. Brock explains that he was unable to bear the tedium at home and so came to rejoin Ash in his travels
